I probably shoot more video on my cellphone than on my DSLR cameras these days, so I got this tension grip smartphone mount by Square Jellyfish that fits the Galaxy Note 3 (even with a Seidio Surface case). Build quality is great - plastic is solid and the base is metal. On the base is a standard quarter twenty (1/4"-20 thread) screw mount that would fit on any tripod. It doesn't come with the base but I had a cheap flexible leg mini tripod handy so I used that. I would recommend a flexible leg tripod over a rigid leg tripod because rigid legs would require an additional ball-head mount to angle the camera/smartphone. With flexible legs you can simply lean the cellphone in right angle (in much the way you would use a Gorilla Pod). And of coarse you can use this mount on an Israeli Arm or a hot-shoe mount to put your smartphone on top of your DSLR (when using your phone as a 2nd monitor via USB or Wifi). It can also work as a handle to stabilize handheld shots. It also folds down to a fairly compact size that can fit into a pocket.
