Emerich's
GODZILLA was certainly a tragedy on how the franchise got held back. I'm almost sensing a similar mistake with the Gareth Edwards upcoming film - where he may focus more on the people and not Godzilla itself. But the story about
MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE failing and canceling a
SPIDERMAN movie and then spawning Van Damme's
CYBORG film (using sets from MASTERS) is all fascinating. CYBORG isn't great but it's the least ridiculous live-action film that's close to what
"Fist of the North Star" could've been (
THE ROAD WARRIOR is good and similar but there's no martial arts in it). On that side note I highly recommend the 1986 "Fist of the North Star" Japanese original animation as the best motion picture rendition of the comic.
