Man from Reno is more reminiscent of the Coen Bros BLOOD SIMPLE - not as dark but with all the engrossing shades of a Dashiell Hammett or James M. Cain novel where it's less about solving a puzzle intellectually (like in a Doyle Sherlock mystery) but rather it unravels by bumping each character's resolve with conflicts of the human condition. But MFR is most effective (and humorous) when you watch it spoiler free. Even though I had been followingDave's production quite closely I'm glad (as an audience member) I wasn't aware of plot specifics. #fb
