Lately I haven't watched very many anime but I came across 甲鉄城のカバネリ (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress) on Amazon Prime and was blown away by how enthralling the action can be - it's like SNOW PIERCER, meets MONONOKE, meets RAN. Granted it's super melo-dramatic with wall-to-wall over the top music but I was totally hooked all the way up to episode 6 (of 10) and then the quality of the animation and story line just took a huge steaming dump. I don't know what the hell happened but they must've run out of money or a key creative staffer quit or was ousted, but it's so extremely unfortunate when the 1st half was so strong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa9Wfpx4LFw
